     Henrietta Parkes, daughter of Alfred Parkes and Georgiana Needham, died on Sunday, 12 November 1961, in Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham, Warwickshire,"died age 64 of Carcinoma of the Large Bowel, Secondaries in Pelvic Cavity and Ileum. Death was Registered on 13 November by F A Parkes of 144 Raddlebarn Road." Her Funeral took place on 15 November 1961 in St. Stephen's Church, Selly Park, Birmingham, Warwickshire. Service to be at 1:30 pm followed by Cremation at Lodge Hill.5

     On 16 November 1961 her ashes were scattered at Brandwood End Cemetery, on the grave of her parents. Grave B2 634.5

     St. Andrew's Church Baptismal Register Entry - "Alice, daughter of Alfred and Sarah Hewlett."3

     In 1910 Alice was employed as a Domestic Nurse with Ruth Sturges at 96 Bournbrook Road.4


     Alice Hewlett was married to Arthur Edwin Parkes on Saturday, 22 July 1911 at St. Stephen's Church, Selly Hill, Birmingham, Warwickshire, After Banns. Witnessed by Albert Alfred Parkes, Minnie Hewlett and Beatrice Parkes.

     In 1913 Alice inherited a Watercolour picture and £25 from Ruth Sturges.5


     In 1943 In correspondence from Alice Hewlett to Phyllis Chamberlain she says that she and Gordon Hewlett attended Buckingham Palace for the presentation to 'Ronnie' of his D.F.C. She states that she wore a two piece woollen suit.5


     Alice Parkes died on Thursday, 7 October 1954, in 167 Warwards Lane, Selly Park, Birmingham, Warwickshire, she was survived by her husband Arthur Edwin Parkes.5 Her Funeral took place on 12 October 1954 in St. Stephen's Church, Selly Hill, Birmingham, Warwickshire, at 10:30 a.m.5

Alice Parkes was Cremated in Lodge Hill Crematorium, Birmingham, Warwickshire, on Tuesday, 12 October 1954.5

     On 13 October 1954 Her Ashes were scattered in the Churchyard of in St. Stephen's Church, Selly Hill, Birmingham, Warwickshire.5
