Margaret
ID# 7061, born around 1520
Margaret was born around 1520.
Margaret was married to John Tipper around 1538.
Margaret was left a Widow on the death of her husband, John in 1546 in Staffordshire.1
Margaret was married to Rouffe Woode between 18 January 1546 and 1547 at St. Peter's Church, Ellastone, Staffordshire, Rauffe Woode and Margaret Tipper were married on 18th day January ano dom. 1746.2
Margaret's birth and parentage not known; IGI entries speculatively give Margaret as born Ellastone c1523; she may be of the family of Thomas and Ellen, but is not with them in 1532/3; it is possible that Margaret is in fact the widow of John Tipper qv, remarrying after the death a few months earlier that could be his, and not that of his son John 1545 as assumed;
[Numerous American Ancestry trees trace a descent through her daughter Katherine Wood, supposedly the Katherine Wood married to William Biddle (or Biddulph) on 02.02.1577 in Stratford-on-Avon. [nb This seems a rather unlikely relocation for the time, and the supposition may have been made only because there are few Parish Registers surviving from the mid 1500's and Katherine Wood of Ellastone was the geographically nearest available candidate]. Katherine and William's granddaughter Ann Biddle married Thomas Brinton in Sedgley in 1631; their son William Brinton emigrated with his family to Pennsylvania after 1670 and is the seventh great grandfather of both Richard Nixon(!) and Lucille Ball(!!). The Brinton family through earlier generations is also shown as distantly related to Louisa May Alcott, Oliver Wendell Holmes and Sam Walton in the USA, and in the UK to Jane Austen, Virginia Woolf, Aldous Huxley, Robert Graves and George Orwell (!!!)].1
Margaret is entered into the Project as part of a One Name Study,
Margaret is included in the "Ellastone Tipper 1530 - 1630" Family Group.
It is our intention to attempt to link ALL persons with the Surname of TIPPER and their families,
