(Limestone Headstone.)4
It has been brought to my attention that there is no "PROOF" that this Thomas Bull and Mary Keeling, married in Cubley, are in fact the same people who are listed in the Parish Records at Kirk Langley.
The logic used here to make them as one family is that there are no other "probable" Thomas and Mary Bull couples in the area within a 20 year period.
There is no overlap of children's birth / baptism place, the appearance / baptism of children is within the usual ages for childbearing and no confusion found in the dates of 'Child of Thomas and Mary BULL' with any others couples in the district.
The location of the parishes of Cubley; Norbury and Kirk Langley are sufficiently close as to present no problem of distance for anyone, given the quality of the major roads and tracks in this area at the end of the 18C. Using the Roman road of Long Lane, Kirk Langley is only 10 miles from Cubley, only some 4 hours walk away today or 200 years ago I would think.5
