     Richard Tipper was married to Ursula Gowburne on Wednesday, 6 November 1680 at the Church of St. John the Baptist, Keele, Staffordshire, (She was actually Ursula Golbourne, the widow of Ralph Golbourne).1,2

     Ursula Tipper(x) was one of the witnesses to the Will of a Henry Viggars of Halmerend, dated 3 July 1700; Probate 14 November 1700.3

     Richard Tipper was mentioned in a probate document on 24 August 1693 for Randolph Scarrat of Halmerend... debts for landlord rent, including Richard Tipper of Halmerend; £00. 10s. 4d.3

               This is an interesting link between the Tippers and Viggars families 100 years before the Marriage of Martha Tipper to Joseph Viggars; it adds a little weight to the possibility that Martha's grandfather James Tipper comes from the family of Richard and Ursula Tipper.4


     Richard Tipper, son of Thomas Tipper and ?, died in 1714, in Staffordshire, he was survived by his wife Ursula Tipper.

     He was buried in the Church of St. James the Great, Audley on Wednesday, 3 October 1714.

     Susannah Tipper, daughter of Daniel Tipper and Mary Adams, was married to Joseph Wootton on Saturday, 19 November 1814 at St. Bartholomew's Church, Norton in the Moors, Staffordshire.
     St. Bartholomew's Church Marriage Register - "Susannah Tipper and Joseph 'Wooten', both of this Parish, both signed with their marks. Witnessed by Hugh Hales and Wm. Ball."3,4

     Following the usual Genealogical practice regarding the recording of persons Surnames, with this family I have attempted to use the Surname that the person was first Registered with at the Birth or Baptism. Subsequent changes to their Surname by choice; by Marriage or by mis-transcription are used in the events in order that other researchers might find it easier to locate in the records on-line.11
