     Anne is recorded as living alone on the U.K.Census of 7 April 1861 at Black Lane, Cheadle, Staffordshire. This Census included Anne, as the only resident in the Household, as follows:

     In the U.K.Census of 2 April 1871, Anne was recorded as residing at 65 New Street, Monks Coppenhall, Cheshire.

     John Turner, son of William Turner and Dorothy Tipper, was born in Macclesfield, Cheshire, in 1793.1


     John Turner born 1793, also became a baker like his father and settled at Macclesfield, Cheshire. He married Harriet in about 1821 and they produced six children, the first three in Rainow, Cheshire, and the last three in Macclesfield, Cheshire. They also had their granddaughter, Emma Turner, live with them. The girls all worked in the silk industry and the only boy also became a baker. However, by 1861, John is shown on the census returns to have retired from baking and is now a ‘Proprietor of Homes’. They were living at Macclesfield and only had their granddaughter Emma with them. Harriet died in 1862, aged 71, and John died a couple of years later, both at Macclesfield.

George Turner

     George Turner born 1800, married Anne Sharpley on 30 January 1821 at St. Peters Church, Prestbury. Cheshire. George became a farmer and by 1841 he, Ann, and all the children were living at Ingersley Hall at Rainow. This had been built by John Gaskell of Tower Hill House some time after his purchase of Ingersley Farm in 1768. By 1851 George was farming 40 acres at Higher Ingersley, with Ingersley Hall now being in the occupation of John Gaskell’s grandson, John Upton Gaskell. He remained at the farm at Higher Ingersley for the rest of his life, with his wife and various children and grandchildren helping throughout the years. He and Ann produced a total of 11 children, but only two were boys. Ann was aged 78 when she died and was buried on 2 July 1873 at Holy Trinity churchyard, Rainow. George was five years younger than Ann and he died on 25 August 1883, aged 82.
