     Lucy born 1791, married George Follows on 5 June 1811 at Cheadle. George was born on 9 December 1784 at Stafford, the son of Thomas and Mary Follows. He was a shoe maker and cordwainer, and Lucy was a seamstress. Their first child was born in Cheadle before they moved to Stafford, where they settled at 12 Brook Street. A further eight children were born to them at Stafford. George died in 1862 aged 78 and Lucy lived to 91 years, still living in the same house with her unmarried son, Thomas, and her married daughter, Emma Loach, and her family.

     Mary Holland was a Beneficiary of the Will of Loton Tipper written; , which was proved at Lichfield Diocesan Court on 27 April 1809; value under £2000; Executors, Ann Harrison and Dorothy Tipper; Legetees = son Loton and daughters Ann Harrison, Mary Holland, Elizabeth Smith and Bridget Keys, his surviving children; £1400 is left to his Trustess, the Rev William Eddowes of Caverswall and Richard Godwin of Birchenfield, Cheadle on Trust for his daughter Ann Harrison, from which an Annuity of £20 is to be paid to his wife, until the latter's death; the monies from the sale of some real estate and all his other personal estate and effects are to be divided equally amongst his five children.5

     It is my opinion that the following Marriage details are what 'actually took place'. The entry recorded in FreeBMD shows that a 'George' Tipper was Married to Emma 'Forister'.
I have also used the 'FORRESTER' spelling of their surname in identifying the family although the spelling does vary in several documents. In the transcriptions I have entered as spelled.4

     John Tipper, son of George Tipper and Dorothy Hammersley, was married to Emma Forrester, daughter of John Forrester and Dorothy Hains, on Saturday, 15 September 1838 at St. Giles' Church, Cheadle, Staffordshire.
     St. Giles' Church Marriage Register - "John Tipper, a Bachelor of Full Age, a Wire Drawer of Oakamoor, son of George Tipper, an Overlooker at a Brass Works was Married to Emma Forister, a Spinster of Full Age of Old Furnace, daughter of John Forister, a Wire Drawer. Witnessed by William Tipper."2,5,6

          The U.K.Census of 6 June 1841 listed him in the Household of John Forrester, at Old Furnace, Cheadle, Staffordshire, who is listed as -
     John Forrester     65     Farmer     Yes (Born in this County.)7
     John's entry for the 1841 Census was recorded as -
          John Tipper     30     Brass Wire Drawer     Yes (Born in this County.)7

     John Tipper, son of George Tipper and Dorothy Hammersley, died on Monday, 28 February 1842 in Cheadle, Staffordshire, his Death was Registered at the Cheadle Register Office in the Apr-May-Jun Quarter of 1842,"aged 30 years." He was survived by his wife, Emma.8,9

     He was buried at St. Giles' Church, Cheadle, Staffordshire, on Saturday, 5 March 1842.
     Cemetery Register Entry - John Tipper of Alton Road, Cheadle (late of Oakamoor) was Buried.2 In Cheadle Graveyard
