Cyrus Brookes lived in Cleethorpes. In the 1920s my grandparents usually went to Mablethorpe for their holidays. One year grandma insisted on going to Cleethorpes for the day to find Cyrus. He was unknown at the address she had been given and my grandfather was furious that a day of the holiday had been a wild goose chase.
My grandmother received a share of Cyrus' will. She didn't consider she had a right to this money as she had never had anything to do with him all her life. She gave the money to my mother and her sister Betty to share between them (H.D.E.)9
