Margaret Tipper pleaded for mercy for a boy who stole her son's wages:
"An orphan named Samuel Simcock, fifteen years of age, was charged with stealing 6s, the money of another lad named Christopher Tipper.
The boys were engaged in similar occupations on Mr Barlow's manufactory, and on Saturday the complainant received 6s as wages.
He placed the money as he thought, in a secure position, but some time after in looking for it, it was missing.
The prisoner was the only person who had been in the room.
The prisoner at first stoutly denied having taken the money, but when given into the custody of the police officer,
admitted taking it, adding that he did not intend to keep it.
The complainant's mother pleaded for the prisoner. Ultimately, prisoners older brother was bound as surety for six months."
